Debate

The UTSA Debate Team has been ranked in the top 10 teams nationally for much of its 21 year existence. Debaters have received All American honors and Top Speaker Awards in the Cross Examination Debate Association's National Championship Tournament. STUDENT DISTINCTIONS

The UTSA Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter has won two national PRSSA awards in the last two years - the Dr. F. H. Teahan Award for Outstanding Community/University Service in 2001 and the same award for Outstanding Regional Activity in 2000.

Department of Music students traditionally place high in regional competitions. In the 2001 tri-state competition sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), 8 UTSA participants won final awards (the most of any school); one won Singer of the Year and another took first place. In 2000 a UTSA music major won first prize in the Texas Steinway Society Competition; another won the regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions.
